All of these facts were revealed to the general public after, passenger took the airlines to court in order to recieve compensation for their delayed or cancelled flights.
Other inexplicable and strange reasons for flight cancellations are, a flight being delayed for nearly thirty hours, after the plane had been struck by lightening and later, ran out of jet fuel. The sequence of unfortunate events took place during an Icelandair flight from London Gatwick to Denver in August 2016.
Another passenger won £472 compensation after being trapped on an Air India flight for six and a half hours with a ‘stinky, fly-ridden’ toilet.
